The Deichtorhallen Hamburg are easy to reach via public transport:
- From Hamburg main station, take U1 to Steinstraße (1 stop), then walk 2 minutes.
- Take bus 112 or 602 to Steinstraße or Deichtorhallen, then walk 2–4 minutes.
- Alternatively, U1 to Meßberg (then walk 4–7 min) or U3 to Mönckebergstraße (walk 3 minutes).
- For live updates and tickets, use the HVV app (or Google Maps/Citymapper).

Accessibility
The Hall for Contemporary Art and PHOXXI at the Deichtorhallen Hamburg, have been awarded the “Accessibility tested” certificate from March 2023 to February 2026. The Deichtorhallen are barrier-free for people with walking disabilities and partially barrier-free for wheelchair users.

People with walking disabilities/wheelchair users
- There are two marked parking spaces for people with disabilities.
- Both halls are steplessly accessible. The ramp to the PHOXXI has a maximum gradient of 6.5% and a total length of 20 metres (intermediate landings available).
- Almost all rooms that can be used by guests and are elevated are accessible without steps, with the exception of the second floor in the PHOXXI (only accessible via stairs). People with walking disabilities and wheelchair users therefore receive free admission to the PHOXXI.
- Doors/passages are at least 90 cm wide.
- Aids available: wheelchairs and folding chairs that can also be used as walking aids.
- Public WC for people with disabilities in the Hall for Contemporary Art (UG) accessible via freight elevator, which can be used when accompanied by staff.
- Public WC for people with disabilities in the PHOXXI on the first floor.

People with hearing impairment/deaf people
- There is no clearly perceptible visual alarm.
- Information about the exhibits in the regularly changing exhibitions is usually provided in writing. The Deichtorhallen website provides information on other technical options (films, apps, audio guide, etc.).
- Guided tours are offered for people with hearing impairments. A limited number of inductive hearing loops are available for guided tours with an audio system.
- Guided tours in German sign language are offered by the Hamburg Museum Service on request.

People with visual impairments/blind people
- There are glass doors without safety markings.
- Stair treads are not provided with visually contrasting edges. Handrails are available.
- Information on the exhibits in the regularly changing exhibitions is generally provided in writing, in legible and high-contrast lettering. The Deichtorhallen website provides information on other technical options (films, apps, audio guide, etc.). The Deichtorhallen participate in the “Bei Anruf Kultur” program for people with visual impairments and offer telephone tours of current exhibitions.
- The name and logo of the exhibition halls are clearly recognizable from the outside.
- Information about the exhibits in the regularly changing exhibitions is usually provided in writing, but not in plain language. The Deichtorhallen website provides information on other technical options (films, apps, audio guide, etc.).
- Guided tours for people with dementia are offered by the Hamburg Museum Service on request. Guided tours in easy language are also offered depending on the exhibition.
Guided tours
Our team of artists and art historians will be happy to guide you through our current exhibitions in the Hall for Contemporary Art, the PHOXXI as well as the Falckenberg Collection in special guided tours. You have the opportunity to take part in public and individual group tours; for young people and schools we offer tours tailored to these age groups. Guided tours with external guides (licensed tours) can also be booked.

Every Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 4 p.m. Every first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m.
Please arrive in the foyer in good time before the start of the tour. Registration is only possible at the ticket office on the day of the tour. -
Bookable guided tours for groups
The Deichtorhallen Hamburg offer individually bookable group tours of the current exhibitions for pupils, students and adults - also available in foreign languages and as online tours. Licensed tours can be booked during regular opening hours. All offers and information on booking can be found in the online catalog of the Museumsdienst Hamburg.

Guided tours for school classes
We offer guided tours for school classes with a maximum of two accompanying persons. At PHOXXI these can be booked from 9:30 a.m. in German, English and Spanish. For more information, please contact the Museumsdienst Hamburg.

The Berliner Bahnhof restaurant and bar offers exquisite drinks, fine wines and cosmopolitan cuisine of exquisite quality to accompany your visit to the Deichtorhallen Hamburg. The modern and spacious interior is complemented by a large outdoor terrace and offers a timeless and sustainable art and gastronomy experience between the Old Town, HafenCity and Speicherstadt.
In good weather, the PHOXXI Bar is also open temporarily on the green area next to the exhibition space.

PHOXXI Bar & Green Area
The PHOXXI Bar and the PHOXXI Green Area are joining forces with the “Berliner Bahnhof” restaurant on the green area of the Deichtorhallen Hamburg.
The PHOXXI Bar invites you to an after-work and summer get-together with relaxed sounds from Wednesday to Saturday from 4-10:30 p.m.
The offer is complemented by the PHOXXI Green Area - an open-air event space that hosts curated music events on selected weekends.
Together, the bar and green area create a meeting place for art, music and urban culture.

In addition to our own exhibition catalogs and editions, our store in the Hall for Contemporary Art stocks all important national and international publications and new releases from the fields of art, photography, fashion, theory and architecture. The bookshops also stock a selection of children's books, selected design items, gift ideas, DVDs and posters. The comprehensive range is compiled in cooperation with the Walther König bookshop. Our booksellers are also happy to order all available book titles.
Editions
Our exclusive and high-quality editions are created in close cooperation with the artists and are produced specifically to support the exhibitions. Our bookshops stock editions by renowned artists such as William Kentridge, Katharina Sieverding, Raymond Pettibon, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Albert Watson, Sarah Moon, Ute and Werner Mahler and Santiago Sierra. Whether sculpture, photography, painting or high-quality artist's book – all editions are only available here in limited editions far below the regular market value.
You can also order our editions, catalogs and posters directly in our online store.
Due to the renovation of the Haus der Photographie, the bookshop in the Haus der Photographie will remain closed for the duration of the renovation. You will find a selection of exhibition-related literature and catalogs at PHOXXI.
